Eric Deis: Works with Fidelis on his new Exhibition

Large format photographic images mounted to aluminum.

Shadows Cast on Imagination’s Past is an exhibition of photography by Vancouver artist Eric Deis. Featuring images from Vancouver, Tokyo and Toronto, Deis weaves narratives of introspective moments by composing regular people within sublime landscapes.
Deis’ iconic image Hipsters and Drug Dealer captures Vancouver’s complex social histories by portraying the demise of the historic Woodward’s building through a chance encounter with gentrifying residents. “My photographs of landscapes and urban spaces critically examine the intertwined dynamics of nature, history, and economics. Captured in situ, my images are not staged nor manipulated. I strive to capture the idiosyncrasies of our society through the collision of artifacts of urban living and astute visual story telling.

Exhibiting at the Elissa Cristall Gallery, Vancouver until October 29th,2009
