Our new name and vision will ensure our clients long-term success through continued marketing and promotions. Our goal is to prepare our clients to sell their own work. The purpose of our new Artists Promotional Package is to empower self-sufficiency through an ongoing relationship. Our three primary objectives are:

through years of experience working with Adobe Photoshop.
PRINT

quality technology and materials available.
PUBLISH
To help find the right market for every image by connecting the artists
directly to the art representatives, galleries and publishers.
Our new logo has become an integral part of our production, through our Certificate of Authenticity, as well as it will identify to us and your collectors that your print was indeed a Fidelis original.
Behind Our Brand
When we enlisted the help of Didax Design Group Inc. to create our new brand, we were extremely excited about what they came up with. According to lead designer, Chris Au,
Fidelis was a name that conveyed the consummate
quality of the people, product sand services of the small family-run
company. In addition Fidelis was memorable, distinctive, and recognizable
in different languages.
The lower case f provided an elegant visual point of departure on a journey
calling upon notions of perception, fidelity, and support; attributes that
resonate strongly with those we want to reach.
Moreover, the phrase “True to the Artist’s Vision” sums
up the message by which Fidelis Printmaking is to be known.
Thanks Chris, for seeing our vision and bringing it to life.
History of Fidelis
FIDELIS Printmaking is a team of experienced artisans and technicians who understand that great fine art reproduction requires more than mechanical skills. We are highly dedicated to maintaining image integrity, utilizing the best quality materials and technology available.
Historically: In 1992, the digital imaging division of Gamma Pro Imaging was formed. An industry leader in the commercial photographic lab community, Gamma was well known for their commitment to staying on the leading edge of technology a building long term business relationships with artists, photographers, museums, motion picture firms, and corporations. In 2003, the imaging division became Gamma Editions and focused it's business on fine art printmaking.
In 2004, the traditional lab of Gamma was sold and the staff of the Gamma Editions assumed the fine art printing side of the business and named it Vancouver Imageworks. In a successful effort to educate artist about the new printmaking technology, Imageworks expanded it's services to include digital printmaking seminars and workshops.
In 2006, Imageworks was rebranded to Fidelis Art Prints, offering printmaking services under the name FIDELIS Printmaking. With the new brand came the FidelityArt™ print, a commitment to image quality and permanence, and our “10-Year Limited Warranty”.
FidelityArt™ Prints
What is a FidelityArt™ print?
Exclusive to FIDELIS, a FidelityArt™ print is a museum quality fine art reproduction that utilizes traditional high-resolution photography plus imaging technology to faithfully capture and reproduce the depth, the vibrancy, and the uniqueness of an original work of art.
What separates a FidelityArt™ print from other reproductions?
We use the finest quality materials when producing our prints. FidelityArt™ prints are made using premium art papers and natural canvas that are pH neutral, acid-free, and 100% cotton. Masterfully combined with pigment-based inks, FidelityArt™ reproductions offer true colour fidelity and exceptional image permanence. FIDELIS is the only BC firm who complies to the criteria of a “True Giclée” as outlined by the Giclée Printers Association.
As a member of the BC Museums Association, we take image permanence seriously by keeping informed of image permanence studies from The Rochester Institute of Technology and Wilhelm Imaging Research. We are confident that our clients are receiving a print that is as technically responsible as it is beautiful.
All FidelityArt™ prints undergo a stringent color and quality check by the artist or publisher before an edition is completed. Artists are encouraged to work with our Adobe Certified Photoshop Experts to extract image detail, depth, and unique qualities from each scan. Our experts have over 14 years of experience and are considered the best in their field. As the creative director, client participation insures the finest results.
Image Permanence
Next to image quality, image permanence is the key ingredient to producing a beautiful piece of artwork. FIDELIS sources it's media and inks from the international marketplace. Ink jet is a growing technology, so we spend a great deal of time keeping on top of new print media as it joins the market. This means our line of paper is always expanding and continuously improving in permanence.
Understanding the difference between available print technologies should be a critical part of your creative process. Selection of archival media will add value to your artwork and provide your buyer with confidence that they have made a smart investment. At FIDELIS we use pigment-based inks, which according to the Image Permanence Institute at Rochester Institute of Technology, observe the highest rating of image stability; outlasting even traditional C prints and digital LightJet prints. A full report on the difference between traditional and digital prints is available in a pdf format at http://www.rit.edu/ipi/sub_pages/consumerguide.pdf.
10-Year Limited Warranty
Every FidelityArt print is accompanied by a “Certificate of Authenticity”. This document provides your end customer with the confidence that the finest archival materials were used during the printmaking process. Should any manufacturers defect occur, Fidelis will replace the print at no cost.
Mastering the Process
Working with a "Master Printer
A “master printer” is defined as an individual who is an expert at his craft, by having experienced his craft for many years. He is well respected in the industry by his peers, and often teaches or shares his expertise with others. His skills are honed, yet he is always developing and experimenting with new ways to make a better print.
At FIDELIS, you will be working not only with our master printers; you will be dealing directly with an owner. Owner operated, FIDELIS staff endeavour to provide you with uncompromising image quality and service.
Image Manipulation, Remastering, and Enhancement
The digital nature of our printmaking process affords an unprecedented amount of image control. At the artist's explicit request and under their precise direction, FIDELIS Printmaking can modify and image in almost anyway. The degree of manipulation can range from subtle shading to radical reconstructing of the entire image, with the finished product showing no evidence of having been manipulated. The fee for such work is dependent on the complexity of the manipulation and on the completion time. We will discuss the nature of the adjustment with the artist in advance, and provide an estimate for how long it will take.
Unlimited Possibilities
Media Selection
The inkjet print process offers an expanding selection of archival media. FIDELIS stocks several media types: Photo Matte and Gloss, Polychrome, Backlit Film, Arches Textured and Smooth, Somerset Velvet and Artist Canvas. When a project warrants we are happy to accept the challenge of sourcing new materials, such as silk, colour paper and foil.
Eco-friendly Alternatives
Today's exhibitor needs to be conscientious about protecting our environment. Public galleries and spaces often require environmentally conscience artwork/exhibitions. FIDELIS has sourced, sampled and printed using eco-friendly inks and papers (most being recycled or acid-free media). Our sales and production staff keep up-to-date with the latest developments in this field, and are pledged to help you make environmentally informed choices for your printing requirements.
Enhanced Colour Capabilities
FIDELIS expertise in complex masking and colour management, allow us to treat every image and it's unique elements individually. Our calibration system offers:
• Maximum image detail in both the highlights and shadows.
• Accurate and predictable colours between different media.
• Consistent colour from the first print to the last in the edition.
• Archiving a production proof for future calibration reference.
Comprehensive ICC profiling is applied to all of our in-house devices—monitors, scanners, digital cameras and printers on a regular basis.
True Black & White
FIDELIS is the only Canadian firm offering black and white archival inkjet printing. Producing an astonishing tonal range, FIDELIS black and white prints rival traditional fibre-base and gelatin silver prints. This process is also ideal for artists looking to reproduce their charcoal or pencil drawings.
Specialty Finishing
Our specialty mounting, lamination and canvas stretching services will compliment your images. Please ask us about mounting to archival foam, aluminum or fibre-board. Our popular high-gloss laminate is also a fabulous solution to artworks demanding the look of cibachrome. Canvases are gallery-wrapped for the look and feel of an original canvas painting.
